The Best definition of worship I have ever heard it this… Extreme Submission, Unconditional Obedience, and Extravagant Love.
If we are extremely submitted to the will of God we will live a lifestyle of “Not my will but Yours be done. “.
If we are a true worshiper we will walk in unconditional obedience at all times. Whatever the Holy Spirit prompts us to do, whenever, however, it doesn’t matter. If we truly love the Lord and want to worship Him in spirit and truth, we will be unconditionally obedient.
And true worship is loving God and worshiping Him extravagantly without holding back but allowing all of our emotions, our spirit, soul and body, to be involved in worshiping Him with all that we have. It’s going above and beyond the call of duty to extravagantly express our love to our Heavenly Father who has more than extravagantly expressed His love toward us.
I believe the Woman with the alabaster box demonstrated this type of love so powerfully. She gave all that she had and extravagantly poured her love and worship upon Jesus even though it cost her everything that she had. She did not concern herself with the opinions of those around her. Her only focus was to worship the Lord and give Him everything that she had. May we all learn to worship the Lord Jesus with such great abandon, pouring out the oil of our worship upon Him with great extravagance!
